Police identify woman's body found floating in river

POLICE have identified a woman whose body was found floating in Maroochy River on Sunday morning.

While unable to release her name, a Police Media spokesman confirmed the deceased had been identified as a 66-year-old Maroochydore woman.

The spokesman reiterated there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

He said police would be preparing a report for the coroner following the identification.

Police were called when the woman's body was spotted floating under the Sunshine Mwy bridge near Bradman Ave about 7am on Sunday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after being retrieved and brought in to shore.

The police spokesman said the woman's next of kin had been advised following the identification yesterday.
