Grave concerns for missing woman

POLICE have not given up the search for missing Tweed Heads South woman Carol Anderson who disappeared almost two weeks ago.

Ms Anderson is 70 years old and suffers Alzheimer's Disease.

She went missing from the Palms Caravan Park on Dry Dock Rd on Friday November 11 and police hold grave concerns for her welfare.

Tweed police Inspector Darren Steel, who is heading the investigation, said Ms Anderson could be on private property, underneath a house or in a shed.

He said it was possible she had become disorientated and taken shelter somewhere and he urged all Tweed Heads residents to check their properties in case Ms Anderson had taken shelter.

Last week police conducted a two-day exhaustive land and river search with the assistance of the State Emergency Service (SES), Rural Fire Service (RFS), Volunteer Rescue Association (VRS) and the RACQ Careflight helicopter however the search had to be scaled back when no trace of Ms Anderson was found.

Insp Steel said police had not given up.

"She's still missing so we're still responding," he said.

"There are some enquiries we're continuing to follow.

"The VRA and SES conducted more searches over the weekend but were unsuccessful."

Ms Anderson is described as Caucasian, 160cm tall with a medium build and brown/grey collar-length hair.

She was captured leaving the park on CCTV footage around 1.40pm (NSW) on Friday, November 11 wearing a white dress with shoestring straps.
