Police call for information after spate of weekend robberies

YEPPOON is not the quiet town it used to be, according to local police.

A thief, or thieves, have been causing some business operators and residents problems following a spate of break-ins over the weekend.

Sergeant Jon Gregory, from the Yeppoon Police Station, told the Morning Bulletin between $20,000 and $30,000 worth of electric tools and machinery, including a large jackhammer, were stolen from a Capricorn Coast business.

The theft took place some time between 10am on Saturday and the following day.

Sgt Gregory said if anyone saw anything relating to that incident, or if they know of someone in possession of a large jackhammer, they should call Crime Stoppers immediately on 1800 333 000.

That wasn't the only break-in over the weekend.

Offenders broke into a Keppel Bay Marina store some time on Friday night.

A sum of cash was stolen and there was limited property damage.

In a separate incident someone broke into a McBean St business and stole cash.

The break-in occurred some time between Saturday night and early Monday morning.

Police are also seeking information in relation to a thief who broke into a 4WD truck in Cooee Bay and stole $1000 worth of sporting equipment over the weekend.

Sgt Gregory said the truck was unlocked.

He strongly urged residents to take heed of police warnings to secure their vehicles and their property, including homes.

He also wanted to remind people that it was an offence to leave a vehicle unlocked... and could result in property owners receiving a $47 fine.
