Two missing people found alive, one body found at crash site

UPDATE: Police have found two missing people and the body of their friend at a crash site in the western NSW desert.

Rescue crews were out at first light Wednesday searching for the trio after a 000 call from a woman the night before dropped out.

The same woman found her way to Acacia Ridge after walking about 20kms from the Mutawintja National Park, 150kms north east of Broken Hill and told police she had left two men behind at a waterhole.

Late Wednesday police found the body of a 33-year-old man near where the trio had crashed their car.

A 21-year-old man was found at a nearby water tank suffering from exposure and minor injuries.

A SEARCH has resumed for three people believed missing in the western NSW desert.

Emergency operators received a 000 distress call on Tuesday afternoon from a woman stating she was lost about an hour's drive from Broken Hill.

However, the phone dropped out and attempts to reach the number have since failed.

A rescue plane spotted a car in the Mutawintja National Park about 8pm but when police arrived at the scene the woman and two others she was believed to be travelling with could not be found.

Police and SES crews are searching an area about 150km north east of Broken Hill.
