Playstation 4 sells over a million units in its first day

SONY'S Playstation 4 console has sold over a million units on its first day of release.

The console has so far only been released in the USA and Canada, with an Australian and European release date set for the 29th of Novemeber and a Japanese release not until much later on the 22nd of February.

Unlike the previous Playstation, Sony isn't selling the Playstation 4 at a loss, giving the industry a spike of confidence in an expected profit.

Sony's continuing rivalry with Microsoft and its Xbox console has gone predominantly in Sony's favour in this generation, with the Playstation 4 releasing first and with less controversy.

Initial reports of some consoles failing within hours of purchase have been proven false, but the 'red line of death' indicated by the console glowing red does indicate an overheating problem in the device.
