Players thank volunteers

LENNOX Head Sharks under-6 player Leo Snowden has one aim when he goes on the football pitch.

"I just like scoring goals," he said. "I feel really happy when I get some.

"I like soccer as it's good fun.

"I like playing matches with (these players). They are a good team and lots of fun."

The five-year-old was among the players taking part small-sided matches at Lennox Head's Skennars Playing Fields on Saturday.

Leo, who attends Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Skennars Head, was among the junior showing their skills during half-time in the men's premier division clash between the Sharks and Lismore Thistles.

The matches were part of a Thank You Day, honouring the assistance of volunteers and assistants with the club.

Meanwhile, teams across the region are reminded that junior carnivals are scheduled to take part at Goonellabah and Byron Bay over the next two Sundays.
