Planned power outage for Mid Richmond area

ON Wednesday, October 12 between 8am - 4pm there will be a planned power outage for the Evans Head, Woodburn and Coraki areas.

What is happening?

Essential Energy is preparing to carry out substantial maintenance work along the 66,000 volt powerline that feeds supply from Lismore to 3,864 customers in the Coraki, Woodburn, Evans Head and surrounding areas.

The planned maintenance involves the changing of more than 80 insulators, replacement of splices along the line and bolts.

The equipment has reached its end of life, increasing the possibility of an unplanned outage if it's not replaced.

How will this impact the community?

Essential Energy said to minimise the inconvenience to business customers, alternate power sources will be installed where possible.

Businesses connected to the alternate power supply will experience a short power outage in the morning when connection takes place and again in the afternoon while normal power supply is reinstated.

All affected customers have received advance notification from Essential Energy confirming the date and duration of the power outage to enable them to make alternative arrangements.

What support will be provided to business customers?

We will work with the businesses not attached to the alternate supply to arrange reimbursement under Essential Energy's Generator Reimbursement Scheme.

Customers can contact Essential Energy on 13 20 80 for further information.
