Pizza delivery man held up by knife-wielding teen in Kyogle

RICHMOND police are searching for a teenager in the Kyogle area and three witnesses after a pizza delivery driver was robbed at knifepoint on Friday night.

Richmond Inspector Wayne Crotty said the robbery unfolded at about 8pm (Friday May 15) on the corner of the Summerland Way and Highfield Rd just south of the Kyogle CBD.

Inspector Crotty said the 26-year-old driver was about to turn left on to the Summerland Way off Highfield Rd when the young male in his mid-teens approached, opened the car's passenger door, and then threatened the driver with a knife and demanded money.

He then got into the car, instructed the driver to drive a short distance, before getting out and escaping on foot along Highfield Rd with a small amount of cash.

He was also seen to join a group of three other teenagers.

The male offender was described as in his early to mid-teens, wearing a white t-shirt and black pants, and of Aboriginal appearance.

Inspector Crotty said the offender's friends were all believed to be in their teens, with two described as being of Aboriginal appearance and one of Caucasian appearance.

Police are continuing their investigation in relation to the matter and are appealing for witnesses to contact Kyogle police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
