Pilling getting the best out of Neurum Road

BALLINA trainer Andrew Pilling had his second consecutive win with six-year-old gelding Neurum Road at the Ballina Jockey Club TAB meeting on Saturday.

Neurum Road ($3.50 favourite) has now had two wins from five starts for Pilling after taking out the $15,000 Benchmark 50 Handicap (1610m).

It is also won the Relihan Bowl $6000 Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) at a Casino Racing Club non-TAB meeting the previous Saturday.

The six-year-old came to the area from Queensland earlier this year and was initially trained by Ballina's John Everson.

The win on Saturday is its fifth from 35 starts.

"It was a great win, he just ambled along at a nice steady pace," Pilling said.

"You can never be too confident but it was a race that suited him well.

"He's had a few starts now and there's no reason why he can't win a few more races.

"We don't have any big plans for him but I'm sure we'll find something suitable."

Earlier, Lismore trainer Daniel Bowen had a win with seven-year-old mare Roman Conflict ($6) in a Benchmark 55 Handicap (1010m)

It was its first run back following a five-month spell.

There is a short turnaround with another meeting at Ballina today.
