Pigs turn trotters
FATHER'S Day at Windara promises to be a great day to ham it up with the third annual pig races on the agenda.
Sunday will see a line-up of piglets ready to race in the Bacon and Egg Maiden, Crunchy Crackling Cup and even the Sweet and Sour Slipper.
Contenders with names like Oprah Swinefrey, Spamela Hamderson and Janelle Saffham will make a mad dash for the coveted milk tray, with the winner's 'owner' getting half the takings.
"My first job was on Melbourne Cup Day, 2000 at a hotel where I set up a straight line, put numbers on the pigs and let them go," Kevin 'the pig whisperer' Kliney, owner of Noah's Farm Thoroughbred Racing Pigs, said.
"In all the years I have been doing it I have not had one complaint. Even the pigs have fun."
The Windara Pig Races is a family-friendly event with food and drink available.
There will be a jumping castle, sausage sizzle and bar.
There will be seven races from 1pm.
Windara is a disability enterprise 5km west of Casino.
Entry is by gold coin donation.
