Picking on the great music

THE Wilson Pickers launched their new album, You Can't Catch Fish From a Train, last Sunday in Bangalow, just days after being nominated for an ARIA award for Best Blues and Roots Album 2016.

The album was recorded last February in Billinudgel at The Church Farm Studios, owned by Andrew Morris (who is also part of The Wilson Pickers).

Hours before starting a tour to support the release, Andrew Morris said the band is very happy with the nomination.

"We are obviously very excited, very honoured and it's a small reward for all the hard work we've put on the record so far,” he said.

"We have been nominated a couple of times before but this time we are probably more excited because we are really proud of this record.”

The band reformed recently after Danny Widdcombe recovered from a relapse of leukaemia in 2011.

Byron Bay resident Nick Didia mixed and mastered the album.
