GALLERY: A bird's eye view of the Lismore floods

UPDATE 1PM: AS THE region gets ready for a floodwater peak late on Sunday, it also gets a bird's eye view of the rising river system. 

The staff at Rotorwing Helicopters snapped these pictures from the air about 11.30am this morning. 

 

EARLIER: NORTH Lismore residents were surprised by the rise of water in the early hours of this morning with one Lake Street resident describing the water rising 65cm every hour from 1am.

The SES has told North Lismore and South Lismore to evacuate by 3pm, as water levels are expected to exceed 10.2m.

Residents are taking cars and animals to higher grounds at the show grounds.
