Pet home safe after Turbo-charged escape
HE HAD only been two weeks in his new home when Turbo the ferret decided to go exploring.
The problem was he didn't tell anyone where he was going and went missing for four days.
Owner Kirby Petty, 15, of Casino, got straight onto Facebook when she realised he had escaped his cage by climbing through a small gap.
"I'd seen on Facebook a lady saying she saw a ferret near St Mary's school," she said.
"So I checked Turbo's cage and he was gone."
Understandably, Kirby was upset and sent a photo on the social media site of her new little pet in the hope someone would find him.
While many people offered words of hope that he'd be found, it wasn't until an employee of Casino TAFE saw him in the garden, that Turbo made it back home.
"A lady messaged me on Facebook that they'd found him," Kirby said.
"They had given him something to eat and were holding him there."
Kirby and her mum Kim estimated that Turbo must have travelled over 2km on his adventures before being found.
"He would have crossed highways and roads; then there were dogs and cars to worry about," Kim said.
"He would have had to go through town as well."
Turbo slept a good two days when he got home, and it goes without saying the cage has been fixed - no more gaps.
