Perfect mix of beef and reef

COWBOYS visiting Evans Head yesterday enjoyed food, music, entertainment and sunny coastal weather.

The 2012 "Beef meets the Reef" attracted hundreds of people to Oaks Street in Evans Head for a day of fun for the whole family.

The event showcased Evans Head as a tourism destination for Casino locals and visitors, as part of Casino Beef Week 2012.

James Dockrill and Jane Hagan were two of the visitors from Casino taking advantage of the sunny weather and fun activities.

They were also showing some of the steers they are about to enter in the Beef Week competitions under their trading name, Pinedock Feeding.

They even allowed "Shadow", one of their steers, to wear a lifesaver's hat for a photo with the Evans Head Surf Club.

"I am 26, my family has been coming to Evans Head for holidays for about 25 years. It's our annual holiday.

It's close and half of Casino comes here together so it was great fun when we were kids at Christmas time", remembered Mr Dockrill.

The activity ended with a parade featuring some of Evans Head's social dance crew, the theatre troupe, youth group and fire department among others.

Visitors also enjoyed camel rides, cattle displays, whip cracking and camp oven cooking.
