Police plea after two teen parties got out of control

POLICE urged parents to register their teenager's parties with the Queensland Police Service's Party Safe program, after two house parties violently spilt over on the weekend.

A teenage boy was arrested and charged with three counts of serious assault, after assaulting police at a North Rockhampton residence when a party spilt out into the streets in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to a disturbance in Phillips St, Berserker at 1.50am on Saturday and were confronted with an out-of-control party at the residence.

It was alleged the 15-year-old boy head-butted a police officer and spat at the two officers called to the scene.

Along with three counts of serious assault, the boy received a drug-related charge and faced Children's Court in Rockhampton on Saturday.

Senior Sergeant Ben Carroll, officer in charge at North Rockhampton police station said parents should ensure police knew their teenage children were having a party.

"Police are urging parents, if their children are hosting a party, to register their party with Partysafe, at the police station or ring PoliceLink on 131444," Snr Sgt Carroll said.

"With the increased use of social media among young people, we find that the parties can spill out of control. We ask parents that if they find their parties have unwelcomed guests arriving, that they ask them to leave and if they refuse to, to call police to assist them."

In a separate incident, a police vehicle had its side mirror ripped off when police were called to another large, out of control, party in Berserker. The unattended police vehicle was damaged while officers entered the premises.
