Party on in Gympie!

COME on down to Gympie town, bring your friends and grab yourself a bargain.

A sensational line up of quality local entertainment and bargains galore are two good reasons why you should.

Today’s free street party is about giving locals and Muster visitors a good time for very little cost in celebration of all that is good about our region, and of course the Optus Music Muster.

Renamed and moved from a Thursday to Saturday, the Pre Muster Day is more than just a celebration of good country music — it’s a destination for discovering Gympie’s home-grown talent and picking up some bargains.

For the first time, Muster campers will be boarding the Valley Rattler at Amamoor to enjoy the scenic tour through the Mary Valley en route to Gympie.

“A morning street party (today) will give those hundreds of campers already at the Muster site the chance to come into Gympie for a day out,” Pre Muster Day organiser Tracey McKean said.

“We hope we get plenty of visitors who then go on to the Nolan Meats Muster Cup at the Turf Club in the afternoon.

“We also look forward to the many local families who would normally be at work, school or volunteering at the Muster on a Thursday, to come along and enjoy a fun morning of shopping and free entertainment.”

Mary Street will be closed from 6.30am to 1pm to create a mall-like atmosphere where the community can wander, enjoy great music and shop at various stalls.

Market stalls will be a showcase of local produce, handmade products, chocolates, Vienna-style macadamias, jams, chutneys, ready-to-eat German sausages, timber and sheepskin products, licorice and more.

Entertainment starts at 8.30am and finishes around midday so head out to the Gympie Turf Club in the afternoon for the five-race program, starting at 11.30am.
