Party at My House in Mullumbimby
BYRON SHIRE resident and iconic Australian DJ Stephen Allkins (formerly known as Love Tattoo) brings back My House, a day party for everyone.
The party will be held at Mullumbimby Leagues Club on Saturday from 3pm to 11pm, which allows parents to take their children and dance with them if they want to.
Stephen Allkins said My House was a very important feature of his event.
"This is about creating community and giving back, and everyone is welcome. This is a safe zone for everyone. Everyone is welcome.
"The important thing is that we have great music in a safe environment for everyone."
There is camping available in the area and food to enjoy at the club.
Mr Allkins is revered as one of the most important Australian DJs of the last 30 years, with his 2000 release Drop Some Drums named one of the 100 best Australian dance tracks of all time, compiled earlier this year by music website In the Mix.
Other DJs on the day will be Terri Thompkins and Augustine Platypuss.
Marion Conrow will be in charge of audiovisual projections and on-site props to give a welcoming and creative ambience to the Leagues Club.
Allkins said the event will feature down tempo music from 3pm to 5pm, allowing people to catch up and have a chat before the more up-tempo music starts.
"A lot of people get there early and they chat until 5pm, they have a first drink, so the down tempo music is great because you say hello to your friends and catch up with people," the DJ said.
All profits from the party will go to All Sorts, a new organisation supporting LGTBI youths in the Tweed and Gold Coast areas.
"To me, real charity work is grassroots, and this is the kind of groups we want to help. I'd like to make every future My House party a fundraiser for a grassroots community group."
At the Mullumbimby Leagues Club, 25 Manns Rd, Mullumbimby Industrial Estate, this Saturday from 3pm. $25.
