Parking time limits to be enforced at Byron Woolworths

PARKING within the north end of the Byron Bay Woolworth's car park will soon have a two hour time limit between 9am and 6pm each day.

Located in Jonson Street, the new parking time limits will commence in about two weeks time and new signage will be installed during this time.

Byron Shire Council's infrastructure services director, Phil Holloway, said a five year agreement had recently been signed with the landowner.

"The enforced time limits are being put in place to help improve car space turnover within the Byron Bay town centre," Mr Holloway said.

He said longer parking was available on nearby Kingsley and Ruskin Streets or in Somerset Street near the Butler Street Reserve.

Council parking officers will be periodically patrolling the car park following the installation of the new signage.

The penalty fine for over staying a time limit is $104.
