Paget’s great day at Lismore Turf Club
GRAFTON jockey Matthew Paget rode a winning treble in consecutive races at the Lismore Turf Club TAB meeting on Saturday.
Paget took out the feature race on four-year-old mare Winfrey ($8) in the $15,000 Woodlawn Cup Benchmark 50 Handicap (1100m).
It is the first time the Stewart Campbell-trained horse has won since a TAB meeting at Ballina in November.
Winfrey placed at Ballina two weeks ago in a Class 1 Handicap (1250m).
In its first run back from a six-week spell, the horse fell in a Class 1 Handicap (1010m) at Murwillumbahon January 4.
Earlier, Paget had his first win on Sound World ($17) in the Class 1 Handicap (1516m).
It is the first time the five-year-old has won since December 2013 in Lismore.
Sound World had runs afterwards at Murwillumbah and Coffs Harbour before going for a 12-month spell.
Casino trainer Leo Clapham had a win when Paget rode She Tells Lies in the Maiden Plate (1200m) on Saturday.
She Tells Lies ($13) finished in front of We Want Prenup ($4 equal favourite) with five-year-old mare High Storm ($6) back in third.
Racing will continue on the Northern Rivers with a TAB meeting at Ballina on Sunday.
