Page goes under knife

STATE MP for Ballina Don Page will be absent from his office for a number of weeks after he undergoes major heart surgery today.

Mr Page's office declined to detail where the veteran State National MP would be having the operation, and the time the 58-year-old is away from his desk will depend on how quickly he recovers.

“It's major surgery but a routine operation,” a spokeswoman said.

Dan Murphy's

THE proposed Dan Murphy's liquor store will be built next to the Westower Tavern if the application is approved by Ballina Shire Council.

It would not be built on the vacant land between McDonald's and The Good Guys. That lot is owned by Harvey Norman. The Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group lodged the development application for Dan Murphy's, worth about $5.25 million, in April this year.
