Owen still in hospital

THE president of the Lennox Head Chamber of Commerce remains in hospital after a horrific car crash at Casino this week.

Mrs Owen was driving toward Casino on the Bruxner Hwy on Tuesday evening when she was involved in a head-on crash.

She was trapped in her car for 30 minutes before being freed by the Casino Volunteer Rescue Association.

The driver of the other vehicle died at the scene.

Mrs Owen was rushed to Lismore Base Hospital with pelvic, chest and shoulder injuries.

A Northern NSW Local Health District spokeswoman confirmed Mrs Owen was in a stable condition yesterday afternoon.

Mrs Owen, who is also vice-president of the Lennox Head Residents' Association, is a well-known and very active member of the community.

Lennox Head Residents Association president Fred Goodman said the group was "anxiously awaiting better news concerning her condition".

"We were quite dismayed to learn that she had been in such a serious accident and that she was seriously hurt," Mr Goodman said.

Police confirmed investigations into the cause of the accident by the Ballina Crash Investigation unit are continuing.
