Out and about

LOCALS were taking advantage of the good and not-so-good weather in the Lower Richmond over the last two weeks.

Firstly, there was the New Italy anniversary where pasta and bocce was definitely on the menu.

Then, despite the rain, Kayla's Fun Day moved from next to Woodburn Bowling Club to the Woodburn Hall where there was candle-making, face painting, sponge throwing, lots of games and markets to keep people entertained. Mr Bum Squeak was a hit with the kids as was the balloon art.

The day was organised by two girlfriends Juanita Mohammed and Dannielle Ritchie for their mutual friend and single mum Kayla Clapham who is undergoing treatment for cancer in Brisbane.

Cheerleading has hit the Woodburn area thanks to a free workshop run by Just Dance! Richmond Valley.

Girls were flying high and balancing on each others shoulders with great confidence by the end of the session.

"It was so well-received that we will be running classes through out term two," dance teacher Tammy Betterridge said.
