Glitz and glamour at Our Kids’ Winter Ball
THERE will be plenty of glitz and glamour at the Lismore Turf Club when hundreds of people descend upon it for the Our Kids Winter Ball on Saturday.
"We've got lots of sparkle, lots of silver, lots of white and a little shimmer of pink in there," said Our Kids fundraising coordinator Rebekka Battista of the ball themed "a night to shine".
There will be loads of prizes, an auction and live music from Cath Simes, all in a decorated marquee.
The event helps Our Kids raise money to buy paediatric equipment for the Lismore Base Hospital and other local medical centres.
With cold weather forecast Ms Battista advised ticketholders to bring a blanket.
"There will be heaters but feel free to bring a rug," she said.
Some of the highlights will be the chance to win a $2000 diamond, $3000 fridge, and a dinner and accommodation package.
"We also have some items for auction and a new fundraising activity called the Ray White Rubber Duckies Draw," Ms Battista said.
"There will be 300 ducks for sale and two 'lucky duckies' will win a adult's bike and a children's bike."
This year more people are getting onboard, from sponsors to guests, with 360 tickets sold compared to last year's 300.
"We sold out about six weeks ago so we actually didn't open sales up to the public," she said.
"This is also the first time we've had a naming sponsor come on board to help us put on the night."
The Ballina branch of national stockbroking and wealth management firm Morgans joined as a sponsor, offering a money-matching opportunity which manager Kai Hansen said would support Our Kids in its goal to help sick children stay in their local community.
"We are matching contributions via the Morgans Foundation to raise a total of $30,000 this year for Our Kids," Mr Hansen said.
Our Kids Winter Ball: At the Lismore Turf Club on Saturday, from 5.30pm.
