Organic market to hit Lismore

AVOCADOS, and melons, and nitrate free ham, these are a few of my favourite things... and you can find them all at the Rainbow Region Organic Market in Lismore.

The market, that just celebrated it's 16th birthday, will be on next Tuesday, and is the perfect place to buy your local fresh produce for Christmas lunch.

Just some of the delicious treats available are; bacon, ham, salad vegetables and leafy greens, oil, bread, melons and fruit including cherries.

If you've overindulged after all that food, there is kombucha and turmeric concentrate to help wash it all down.

Devotees to the market couldn't imagine shopping anywhere else, and it has become a fixture in the weekly shopping routine of many.

Roz McMahon of Goonellabah, who has just started a business as a food coach, is just one of the regular market shoppers.

"I just love that there is so much variety," she said.

There's so much to choose from, and it's always fresh and local. Its organic, so it's got to be better for you.

"Everything is in the one place, it's better than a fruit shop actually."

Asked whether she will be doing her Christmas shopping there next week, Ms McMahon didn't hesitate.

"Absolutely, no question about it."
