Bennett rides to double win at Ballina Jockey Club TAB

COFFS Harbour jockey Matthew Bennett rode a winning double at the Ballina Jockey Club TAB meeting on Saturday.

He also placed second and third in two of the other four races.

Bennett completed the double on eight-year-old gelding Colony ($6) in the $8000 Greg Clark Building Benchmark 60 Hcp (1305m).

The Dwayne Schmidt trained horse has won two of its past 11 starts after a 14- week spell.

Earlier, Bennett rode Man Of Stealth ($4.40) in the Class 1 Hcp (1305m).

Bennett is listed for another five races at a TAB meeting on his home track at Coffs tomorrow.

In other races at Ballina on Saturday, Casino trainer Leo Clapham had a win with She Tells Lies ($5) in the Mid-Richmond Plumbers and Suppliers Benchmark Hcp (1255m).

It had been placed in its previous races at Ballina and Lismore last month.

Racing will return to the Northern Rivers next Monday with a TAB meeting at the Lismore Turf Club.

A bumper crowed is expected with the popular seafood lunch available.

Ballina also hopes to attract its biggest crowd of the year at its Boxing Day TAB meeting.

Murwillumbah will take over from there with TAB meetings on December 27 and January 3.
