One punch leaves teen in an induced coma

LESS than a week ago, Currumbin's Jess Crawford and her eldest child shared a passionate conversation about life and death.

Seated in the family car, the mother-of-five and Dylan Crawford-Kama, 15, discussed the balcony death that had rocked Schoolies 2012.

She told him of the friends she had lost in similar tragedies, of the mates who had died from senseless punches to the head.

She urged him to live life but to do so with care.

"We were having this deep conversation," Ms Crawford recalled.
