One in hospital after partial building collapse at Byron

UPDATE 10:15am: INSPECTOR Warwick Rhodes of Tweed Byron police said the incident occured on a building site.

"Workers were removing asbestos from a building site when the incident happened," he said.

"One of the walls has fallen down and hit the man as he was trying to flee."

WorkCover are at the building site investigating the incident.

 

ORIGINAL REPORT: A MAN has been taken to Tweed Heads hospital following a partial building collapse at Byron Bay this morning.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called at 8am to Cavvanbah St following reports a man had been injured by falling debris.

A man in his 40's was treated at the scene and taken to Tweed Heads hospital in a serious but stable condition.

WorkCover are at the building site investigating the incident.
