ON THE NOSE: Beached whale decaying at Back Beach

IT IS hard to believe the remnants of a whale on Back Beach at Angourie, was once actually a whale.

Covered in teeth marks from where sharks had been feeding on it, what's left of the whale body remains washed up on the beach.

Passers by have had to pinch their noses as it begins to decay, spreading a foul stench across the beach.

But it's the lack of surfers in the water which proves even they are fearing the sharks what are probably still nearby.

Some Yamba surfers said they saw a large shark at Turner's Beach this morning.

Stay safe in the water, folks!
