On target: Christmas break then all aboard for 2014 finish
FROM the air the Sapphire to Woolgoolga Pacific Highway upgrade cuts a defined corridor through the Northern Beaches, which in coming months will be overlaid with concrete.
Roads and Maritime Services says the project is progressing well, however work will be suspended in three weeks time, as the Coffs Coast experiences peak holiday traffic.
Contractors will break on Friday, December 21 and return to work on Monday, January 7.
Roadwork speed limits will remain in force, but to avoid major holiday traffic bottlenecks there will be no highway stoppages for a week starting on Friday, December 14.
The RMS said despite persistent wet weather delays at the start of the year the $705 million project is progressing towards a 2014 finish.
Over the next six months, motorists will see several local roads reopened to traffic including Gaudrons to Maccues and Hoy Rds along with the Moonee Beach and Diamond Head Dr overpasses.
In other highway news, the Department of Planning and Infrastructure this week approved the Arrawarra rest stop design.
