Olley gallery looking for a new director
DO YOU like hanging around with art? How does $100,000 sound?
The Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre has advertised the role of art gallery director, following a significant growth in patronage and corporate sponsorship.
The gallery's current director Susi Muddiman has held the position since 2007, overseeing the centre's curator, gallery staff and 170 volunteers.
"The role hasn't changed, but it has gotten a lot bigger in terms of project management and facility management," Ms Muddiman said.
"An increased level of sponsorship, philanthropic and corporate liaison is now involved.
"We raised over $1 million in sponsorship just from the Olley Trust, and many more significant donors have jumped on board since MOAC opened.
"These relationships have to be managed."
MOAC, a purpose-built extension opened in March 2014, is a re-creation of rooms from Margaret Olley's home studio in Sydney's Paddington.
