Old-school service at new Toowoomba workshop

IF THERE'S one person who should know his way around the Darling Downs' mechanical scene, it's Steve Lindenmayer.

A dark green shed and vintage-inspired logo sums up exactly what his new business is all about.

He opened Steve's Workshop at 78 Mort St, an automotive servicing and maintenance solutions centre with an old-fashioned approach to customer service.

"It was time for a change," he said.

"It was my time to try it before I get too old."

Originally from Millmerran, Mr Lindenmayer spent 11 years in a workshop there before moving to Toowoomba in 2005.

He worked in the city for eight years before spending three years in Pittsworth.

Now the friendly mechanic is back in town - delighting his loyal customers.

"My point of difference will be honesty and affordability," he said.

"I don't like to up-sell, it's just about whatever the car needs."

While Mr Lindenmayer has been working for 22 years, he said a love of cars drew him to the industry long before he completed his apprenticeship.

"I like providing a service that customers are happy with, it can also be a challenge at times and I enjoy the diagnostics of it," he said.

"The industry is becoming more complex.

"I'm always learning and there's so much more coming out, especially in the electronic side of things - cars are going to get very 'high-tech'."

Steve's Workshop is open Monday to Friday 7am-5.30pm and on Saturdays by appointment.

Phone 4564 8647 or search the workshop on Facebook.
