Nyxie rides the perfect wave in Victoria
LENNOX Head surfer Nyxie Ryan scored a perfect 10-point ride at the Rip Curl Grom Search Series at Jan Juc in Victoria.
Ryan is surfing in the Under-14 girls division and has already had a string of wins in other events this year.
"I'm stoked to get my first 10 point ride at a Rip Curl Gromsearch event,” Ryan said.
"Victoria is always such a fun place to come to, it's cold but the waves are incredible.
"I can't wait for the final day of competition.”
Ryan progressed through her heat with a total of 15.67 (out of a possible 20) that was closely followed by Sage Goldsbury on 14.83 points.
The U12 boys and girls heats also took to the water yesterday with the future of surfing on show from the youngest age divisions.
Willis Droomer was outstanding in his first round heat locking in an impressive 17.10 heat total and will now move on to the final day of surfing.
In the girls, it was Emily McGettigan who impressed the judges and crowd winning her opening heat with a 13.04 scoreline.
The Flight Center Expression session was also held during the day with participants walking away with a heap of Flight Center and Sun Bum prizes.
The list of previous GromSearch winners includes World Surf League competitors Gabriel Medina, Tyler Wright, Owen Wright, Matt Wilkinson, Jordy Smith and Sally Fitzgibbons.
