THE Pacific Hwy has been re-opened near Bangalow following a head-on collision this morning that claimed two lives.

The two-car crash occurred on the highway near Possum Creek Road just north of Bangalow about 2.20am.

Both drivers, a man and a woman, died at the scene.

There were no passengers in either of the vehicles

A crime scene was established so officers from the Northern Region Crash Investigation Unit could commence an investigation.

The highway remained partly closed till about 8am operating alternating traffic which caused some delays.

A Transport Management Centre spokesman confirmed all lanes were now operating as normal and there were no delays.
