Kyogle netball returns

AFTER five years in the doldrums Kyogle netball is back.

Once a thriving country competition, the Kyogle netball scene disappeared and lay dormant, until now.

But with a bright idea, a few phone calls and a tin of paint, life has been breathed back into the courts next to Anzac Park.

In just a matter of days the Kyogle Netball Association has been formed, held a sign-on day, and the courts are being brought back up to playing standard.

More than 80 players have signed up with the first round of games on Saturday.

The newly-formed Kyogle Netball Association will run a shortened season this year with an eye to 2011.

“Getting it running this year, even though it is not a full season, will be a huge bonus for next year,” association president Tammy Everingham said.

The new competition means that Kyogle locals will no longer have to travel to Casino or Lismore to play.
