Northern Star campaign for Jackson proves a winner

THE Northern Star has been named Campaigning Newspaper of the Year at the APN Australian Regional media awards in Maroochydore on Wednesday night.

It won primarily for its successful campaign to raise $80,000 to save the life of Casino teenager Jackson Byrnes.

"The Northern Star, through an intense, moving and creative online, social media and print campaign, involving just about everybody in the building, raised the money in just four days," the judges noted.

"This is the sort of thing that makes us proud."
