NSW Govt releases blueprint for education reform action

IN A RARE turn of events union chiefs have and the NSW Government have found common ground on education reform.

NSW Teachers Federation Maurie Mulheron welcomed the release of the government's blueprint for action in on Wednesday, acknowledging there were "signs the government is starting to address the concerns and aspirations of teachers".

He said teachers would appreciate the focus on lifting standards in initial teacher education and greater support in the early years of their careers.

Executive Director of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW, Dr Geoff Newcombe said the blue-print "very clearly sets our very clear reforms which could have a positive impact on the quality of teaching in NSW".
