NSW Government spectacles program available locally
THE mission of VisionCare NSW is to provide responsive, efficient and cost-effective delivery of quality-assured visual aids to those in need throughout the state of NSW, meaning every NSW resident, regardless of income, has access to the visual aids they need.
VisionCare NSW has announced that Lamas & Brown Optometrists in Casino will resume processing VCNSW applications from April through to the end of June.
The clinic will be processing the applications on three days during this period: April 3, May 1and June 5.
To apply to the program applicants are required to:
Make an appointment with Lamas & Brown optometry practice.
Present a current Centrelink income statement (two income statements required if one or both members of a couple are applying for benefits).
Organise their own eye examination - through Lamas & Brown or any local optometrist - and present a copy of the prescription at the time of attendance at the clinic. Prescriptions up to one year old are acceptable.
Complete a VCNSW application form, including declarations about assets and additional income.
Present their Medicare Card for applicant verification at the clinic.
Applicants are required to meet all eligibility criteria, including an income and assets-based means test.
