SBW free to battle Auckland Warriors

ROOSTERS superstar Sonny Bill Williams will be free to take on the Warriors at Allianz Stadium on Sunday with an early guilty plea to a grade one careless high tackle charge against Eels back Matt Ryan.

Williams would not miss the match even if he fought the charge and lost.

Teammate Boyd Cordner was not so fortunate. He faces a one-match ban after being slapped with a grade one striking charge - also against Ryan - and will miss the game even with an early guilty plea.

Meanwhile Roosters hooker Jake Friend said his team must improve on the 38-24 win over Parramatta to take the points against the in-form Warriors.

"We were a bit disappointed with our performance against the Eels," Friend said at training yesterday.

"We've got a tough game against the Warriors this week - they're on a bit of a roll. We'll be doing everything we can this week to improve."

Coach Trent Robinson has given Origin players Mitchell Pearce, James Maloney and Michael Jennings a break from training until tomorrow after all three backed up against Parramatta.
