Healer charged over sex assaults

AN ALTERNATIVE health practitioner based at Alstonville has been charged over a series of sexual assaults.

The 29-year-old man was arrested by Ballina detectives on Thursday and was bailed to appear at Ballina Local Court next month.

Detectives have been investigating the alleged sexual assaults for some time.

The assaults are believed to have occurred between 2005 and 2010.

The man was taken to Ballina Police Station and subsequently charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.

He was granted conditional bail.

Richmond Local Area Command crime manager Detective Inspector Greg Moore said the investigation was ongoing.

“Obviously there is a sub judiciary issue which prevents me from discussing the case in detail,” he said.

“But if anyone has any information that could assist investigators they should contact Ballina detectives on 6681 8618 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
