Northern Rivers Portrait Prize now accepting entries

THE Northern Rivers Portrait Prize is now receiving entries for this year's competition.

Once again, for the fourth year in a row, the Lismore Regional Art Gallery is putting on the prize, calling for artists to create a portrait of someone from the Northern Rivers, past or present, who they believe to be of value to their lives or the community's

Last year it attracted over 6,000 visitors, and received over 300 entries from across the eastern states.

In 2013 the Prize will be judged by Mr Philip Bacon of the highly respected Philip Bacon Galleries.

The winner of the prize will take home $10,000 while the winning portrait will be taken into the Lismore Regional Gallery's permanent collection.

Other awards include the $1500 Armsign Award winner, which recognizes and encourages outstanding artistic talent for artists under 30 years of age and the public vote for a $500 People's Choice winner.
