MENTALS: Australian rock legends Mental As Anything have announced a new chapter in their career with new single Shake Off Your Sandals under a new music deal. They have been on stages, radio airwaves, record books, playlists, TV screens and awards nights for close to 40 years. Boasting 12 albums between 1979 and 2009, Mental As Anything’s contribution to the Australian music landscape was formally recognised in 2009 with their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Closing in on their 40th anniversary in 2017, Shake Off Your Sandals was released late last year under a new partnership with Universal Music Australia. The new deal covers both their cherished back catalogue and new material. Shake Off Your Sandals, a pop classic with a distinct Mentals twist, is the first in what will be a regular suite of singles. There will be a new Mental As Anything song every five months – a release cycle the band followed at the genesis of their career. Also, five of the Mentals’ most cherished albums – Get Wet, Cats & Dogs, Fundamental as Anything, Mouth to Mouth and Liar Liar Pants on Fire – were reissued in a five-album set in December. Mental As Anything at the Casino RSM tomorrow from 7.30pm. Supported by The Bounty Hunters.
