Northern NSW infected with the “travel bug”

TRAVEL, it seems, is on the minds of many residents of the region.

The Expedia.com.au brand's recently released annual 'State of the Nation' report reveals how those living in Northern NSW are excited to get out there and explore the world as well as what they look for when planning their next holiday.

Expedia's report found Northern NSW is an area of travel aficionados who use Travel Bucket Lists to keep their dreams on track:

More than eight in 10 (84%) residents in Northern NSW, over 18, have been overseas, in line with the number of Australians nationally who have been overseas (84%)

Three quarters (73%) of residents in Northern NSW have explored a different country in the past two years, slightly higher than the national average (71%)

The average international traveller in Northern NSW has visited nine countries, in comparison to the average Australian traveller who has visited only eight

It also appears a weaker Australian dollar and resurgence in domestic travel are not deterring those in Northern NSW from travelling or aspiring to travel overseas.

In fact, more than seven in ten (73%) residents from the north of the state who have ever been overseas intend to travel internationally again in the next 12 months, mirroring the intention of Australians nationwide (73%).

Of the travellers who have not travelled overseas in the last two years, 56% are planning a trip in the next two years, a big jump up from the national result (44%).
