North Coast swim club legend dies after 50+ years of service

SWIMMING North Coast have posted a tribute to the late Keith Midgely on their Facebook page thanking him for his dedication and service to the sport of swimming.

"It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Mr Keith Midgely from Grafton Swimming Club and Life Member of SNC passed away yesterday," they posted.

"Keith was a valued technical official for more than 50 years

"He attended most carnivals in the north of our area and because he didn't drive he would go by public transport often catching a train or bus in the early hours of the morning and arriving home late in the evening."

Swimming North Coast said the last carnival Mr Midgley attended was in Casino on March 6 just before he went into hospital.

"An amazing man who volunteered for so very, very long for the children swimming on the North Coast - VALE Keith," Byron Bay Swim Club wrote.
