No stopping the flying Flynn
The 12-year-old affectionately known as ‘Flynny’ won the gong for his achievements on the field, in the pool and off track.
Giving new meaning to the term all-rounder, Daniel was selected in the North Coast’s State Championship squads for soccer, AFL, softball, hockey and athletics.
He also represented Zone in swimming, cricket, cross country, rugby league and was the boys 12-13 years champion in athletics.
On top of that, he is also a gun futsal player and a mad keen golfer.
“I love sport,” he said. “I’m fairly fit. I just like to run around and have fun.”
With a genuine love of each sport, Flynn said it was hard to choose a favourite but if he had to choose he’d be a Socceroo.
“I like soccer because I’ve been playing for as long as I ever could,” he said.
“I like the challenge of other teams and being able to run around and having fun with my friends and meeting different people.
“I would really love to play for the Socceroos. There’s good players around but I’ll try my hardest to get into it.”
The Richmond Rovers player also tried his hand at AFL, joining the Lismore Swans and playing in the forward line mid-season.
He booted six goals in their semi-final win and was part of the team that lost the grand final by one point to Pottsville.
