No-show in court brings arrest order

A LISMORE man accused of hitting his former partner in the head with a golf ball and cutting her scalp has had a warrant issued for his arrest.

Steven Andrew Roberts, 18, has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and guilty to contravening an apprehended violence order.

However, Magistrate Annette Sinclair ordered he be arrested again when he failed to show up at Lismore Local Court on Monday.

Roberts' ex-partner had travelled to Lismore from Kempsey in January this year to collect their four-month-old daughter from him.

But on her arrival Roberts is alleged to have told her he would not return their daughter to her.

Police allege Roberts followed the woman when she returned to her car and, while she was sitting in the driver's seat, punched her in the head through the car window.

He then allegedly moved to the passenger side of the car, opened the door and found a golf ball inside the car, which he threw at the woman who by then had left the vehicle.

Her scalp was cut by the ball. She received stitches to the wound at Lismore Base Hospital.
