No dam CSG for Dorroughby

DORROUGHBY residents will mark their rejection of coal seam gas mining and reinforce their chosen role as guardians of the region's water with a celebration at Rocky Creek Dam on Sunday.

A recent road survey of residents in the area including Whian Whian, Upper Coopers Creek and Rosebank saw 98% reject CSG.

On Sunday, this will be made official when residents hand over a no-CSG declaration to Ballina Shire Council mayor and the chairman of Rous water Philip Silver.

There will be a parade across the dam wall with anti-CSG protest signs and banners which to be filmed to be uploaded "so we can pass on the No CSG message to the rest of the world," organiser Georgie Whaley said.

There will be children's activities and musical performers. Free legal advice will be available to landholders.

The event kicks off at 11am but participants should arrive by 10.15am. BYO picnic.
