No beef with CBD upgrade

THE upgrade of Casino’s central business district won’t affect Beef Week.

That’s the word from Beef Week president Stuart George, who has moved to assure the community the festival will go ahead as normal, despite ongoing work in Walker and Barker streets as part of the $2.7 million project.

“The Beef Industry Breakfast and the main day of Beef Week will be held in the Casino CBD as normal,” he said.

“The cows will continue to be tied up in Walker Street, the led steer competition will be held where it is always held around the Mafeking Lamp, the street parade will go ahead as usual, and the stalls and rides will be set up in Barker Street.

“Nothing will essentially change.”

Mr George was prompted to issue the public assurance after fielding numerous inquiries from community members wanting to know what would happen to Beef Week if the main street upgrade was not complete.
