Nimbin kicks off show season
THE region's spring show season kicks off this weekend with the Nimbin Show, promising two days of great value family entertainment.
Tomorrow, the show will feature cattle events for British, European and Bos Indicus breeds, as well as champion bull and champion female events.
There also will be a large range of poultry events with entries from across the region.
The horse events are back again this year with pony, Arab and all-breeds events to be held tomorrow.
On Sunday, miniature horses, showjumping and riding events will feature in the centre ring.
There will be an alpaca display tomorrow sheep shearing and a reptile show on both days.
Nimbin Show will also feature lots of live entertainment and events for children.
The Norco prime vealer show and sale starts at 9am and will be followed by children's sporting equestrian events from midday.
The pavilion will host all the traditional country show displays, doors open at midday, along with the canteen, bar and a barbecue.
Today's highlight will be the bull ride, which begins at 6pm.
Tomorrow, shows in rings one, two and three will begin at 8am and will feature wood chopping and cattle displays.
There will be poultry displays and magic shows, with the finale being a demolition derby, fireworks and music by local entertainers.
The Kyogle Show will follow Nimbin and will run from October 8-10.
Alstonville Show kicks off at the end of next this month on October 29 to 30.
The program will feature working dog trials as well as horse and cattle shows.
