Nile says he’ll oppose selling poles offshore
REVELATIONS over an asset-sale meeting with a Chinese Government-owned electricity company have not swayed Christian Democratic Party leader Fred Nile's stance against foreign ownership.
"(We) will use our balance of power in the Upper House to oppose any government proposal to sell our poles and wires offshore, prior to meeting our own requirements, which primarily protect the people of NSW in the short and longer term," Reverend Nile said.
The comments came after a ministerial diary summary revealed NSW Treasurer Andrew Constance had met with Chinese Government-owned energy company, State Grid Corporation.
Labor has accused Premier Mike Baird of avoiding questions about what happened during the talks.
The Forestry, Mining and Energy Union has launched an advertising campaign opposing foreign ownership, saying "selling it to another country is just not on".
