Night of laughter to raise funds

FUNDRAISING to "save the heart" of Federal village has nearly reached the halfway mark, but organisers are urging people who haven't yet donated money to come forward sooner rather than later.

The community aims to purchase the former Anglican Church in Federal, after negotiating a price of $200,000 plus $20,000 towards expected associated expenses.

But they only have until the end of June to raise the necessary funds to complete the purchase.

The church will then be held in trust for the community under the banner of the Federal School of the Arts Trust and managed by the community.

Alan Goldstein, from the fundraising committee, explained that a comedy and dinner evening will be held at the Federal Hall on Friday, April 27.

Local comedians Mandy Nolan and Nick Penn will entertain the audience with their show "Nick Penn goes the full Mandy", with dinner served from 6.30pm and show starting at 8.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 at the door and a further $12 will be charged for a dinner plate.

Mr Goldstein also announced a set of new corporate sponsorship packages to be offered to Northern Rivers businesses from this week.

There will be four sponsorship packages available: Bronze for donations between $1000 and $1999, Silver for donations between $2000 and $2999, Gold for donations between $3000 and $4999 and Platinum for donations over $5000.

The sponsorship deals will mean representation of the business in most fundraising activities and media advertising, tickets to fundraising activities, among others.

"By choosing the sponsorship option we are able to give businesses something of value in return. The community will be singing your praises for a long time into the future," he said.
